CISM
Critical Incident Stress Management

About Me

I'm Tasha Mazenc.
I started Industrial CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) to raise awareness on the aftermath of ones mental health after responding to a critical incident on mine sites.
Volunteer Emergency Response Teams (ERT) don't have the same level of support as a full time Firefighter or EMS worker. As potash miners, we found our ERT requiring support after responding to incidents on site.

Following an incident on site, I could see first hand how our ERT members hadn't worked through the emotional rollercoaster of what happened. Two years following the incident, nobody went for help or spoke about the incident after that day.
~This needs to change~

In 2019, I was trained on the ICISF (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation) standards for Individuals In Crisis, and Group Crisis Intervention, which lead me on the journey to understanding peer-to-peer support with CISM.

This level of support trains employees on site how to intervene and recognize the signs and symptoms of stress and trauma after an incident.
